Coconut Cup #6, Oleta

Marshall got out his mountain bike again for the Coconut Cup #6 race at Oleta River State Park Park in North Miami. He placed 3rd for his age group and had a great time! Jay was also planning on racing...BUT... while he was getting his bike ready a tent blew into his car! Someone had forgotten to stake down their tent and the wind picked it up, dumping it in on top of his brand new car! (it had less than 200 miles on it) Fortunately it did not injure anyone and we were able to take it down before it took off again! Yeesh...we were glad to get home this afternoon!

6 Hours of El Lagarto

We headed to Lakeland for the 6 hours of El Lagarto mountain bike race. Jay and Marshall both raced along with some friends from OYM, Matt, Julie, Kip and Dave. Marshall raced up an age group in the 10-14 category because he thought the race for his age was too easy...hehe! The kids race was a little goofy, the course was not clearly marked so all of the kids went in different directions. They didn't end up giving places since it was a little crazy, but they all had a fun time! Jay completed 7 laps and rode for 5 hours and 11 minutes (he was the fastest in the 7 lap group). He finished 23 out of 50 overall, this was his 2nd mountain bike race ever! I manned the tent and passed out bottles and nutrition which was fun too! Oh yeah, and all of the races started with a potato sack race...pretty funny!

Race For the Cure 2011

Aye...so hard this year! Lily, Lisa, April and I ran in memory of Kelly Gourley, my good friend who passed away in November. In previous years Lisa and I would do the run and then do the walk with Kelly, celebrating the fact that she had been cancer free for several years. This year was our first time at the event without her and it was really difficult. She was an amazing person and I was honored to run in her memory, we are rejoicing that she is completely healed now in Heaven!

Coconut Cup #4, Amelia

Jay and Marshall competed in their first mountain bike race this weekend, they both LOVED it! Marshall raced in the kids 6-8 category and came in 2nd place! He almost passed the first place guy right at the finish line...so close! Yeah Marshall! Jay was in the Base men 30-39 category and came in 27 out of 35! He rode the majority of the first lap (about 7 miles) with a flat tire! Way to go boys!

Palm Beach Marathon Festival 2010

The Palm Beach 1/2 marathon was this weekend! My goal was to finish in 2:30 and my time was 2:30:55. No complaints here, I'll live with the 55 second overage... it was still 23 minutes faster than my last 1/2 marathon! The weather was BEAUTIFUL, high 40's and sunny. Erica and Lauren ran too, congrats to them! Jay and the kids were there braving the cold temps to cheer me on... signs and all! Thanks to Coach Bob for all of the Sunday morning pep talks!

The LEACh 2010

The LEACh (Loxahatchee Eco Adventure Challenge) is an 8 hour adventure race through Jonathan Dickenson State Park on an unmarked course. You compete as a team and are involved in canoeing, trekking, biking, navigation, obstacles and problem solving. Jay and Brent were team "Last to Register" (they really were the last to register) and Erica and Steve were team "Off the Grid". Both teams finished within the allotted time! "Last to Register" finished 14 out of 23 overall; "Off the Grid" 15 out of 23 AND 3 out of 4 for the co-ed division earning them a medal! It was a LONG day, but everyone was happy at the end. The cheering section included: Sara, Lily, Marshall, Randy, Martha and Noelle!

1k run and bike time trial

Busy weekend! Saturday Lily ran the NPB Ghost run 1k with her running club from school. She came in 4th for the girls. On Sunday she did a bike time trial (out in the middle of the sugar cane fields!) It was a 15k bike and she finished in 37 min. Not her best time, but big kuddos for going out there! Picture is from the bike time trial.

Publix Duathlon

Jay and Lily competed in the Publix Family Fitness Duathlon this morning and WON!! They came in first place in the relay category and 43rd out of 121 overall!! Way to go Killer Millers relay team! They got to stand on the podium to receive their awards and Lily was interviewed for the Stuart News which she thought was pretty cool.

Sunday morning training run

I had a great 9 mile training run with Erica today! She is an awesome running partner, thankful for her friendship and encouragement to keep going (and her ability to get my rear out of bed every Sunday morning at 5am)! Looking forward to the PB 1/2 marathon!

Publix Family Fitness 1 mile race

The kids ran a 1 mile race at the Publix Family Fitness event in Tradition. Lily came in 3rd overall with a time of 7:23 and Marshall ran an 8:40, not sure of his placing but he definitely creamed the other 6-7 year olds and a lot of "big kids" too! We didn't know about the event until today and decided to head up there at the last minute. We ended up running into 2 other kids from the Jaguars club and they came in 4 and 5 overall! A great representation for the club and fun too! Also a last minute registration, Lily and Jay are doing the Publix duathlon as a relay tomorrow morning. Gook luck "Killer Miller" relay team!

2010 Iron Kids Nationals

We had so much fun at Iron Kids Nationals St Petersburg! There were 8 Jaguar club members participating and they all got to meet kids from other tri clubs around the country. It was very cool! Lily came in 26 out 0f 34 in her category, and had quite an eventful bike portion of the race. Her bike chain was off when she tried to start the bike leg of the race. We realized later from watching the video that when she came into transition after her swim, the bike was racked differently and the chain was off. We are guessing it got knocked off the rack by another person and when it fell the chain came off, they must have picked it up and put it back on the rack not realizing it was broken. Thankfully Jay was nearby to help get the chain back on, but it cost a bit of time! She didn't panic and we are so proud of her! Congrats to all Jaguars!!
